 Palmilla Traditional Mince Pies Recipe


For the Mince Meat:

Place all ingredients apart from alcohol in a pan and cook for 10 to 15 mins. When completely cold, add alcohol.

For the pastry:

  1. With hands, rub together flour and butter then add sugar and the egg - try not to over work
  2. Place in plastic wrap for 30 mins to rest
  3. Roll as thinly as possible, take a greased cupcake tray and line with the pastry
  4. Place the mincemeat inside and cut circles of the pastry to place on top
  5. Mark an air hole and place In the freezer to chill
  6. When chilled, brush with milk and place in the oven at 300F for 10 to 15 mins until golden brown
  7. Sprinkle sugar on top and leave for 5 mins to cool and then turn out of the tray serve warm.


For the Mince Meat:
175g currants 
175g raisins
175g sultanas
175g dried cranberries
100g mixed peel
1 small cooking apple, peeled, cored and finely chopped 
125g butter
50g sliced almonds 
225g muscavado sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp mixed spice 
Finely grated rind and juice of 1 lemon 
200 ml of rum, brandy or sherry 

For the pastry:
375g all-purpose flour 
260g butter cut into small cubes 
125 g sugar 
1 egg
