What’s special about the mangroves for you?

Exploring the Mangroves helps me to escape and disconnect from noise pollution and other distractions. I call it my special water jungle. Being in there takes me back to my roots. There’s nothing else around; no boats, no engine and nothing made by humans.

What does it feel like exploring the mangroves?

It’s incredible – there’s no sound. You can only hear your own breath, the paddle gently floating on the water and the wonderful, mysterious sounds of nature all around you. In the Mangroves, the quality of oxygen is so pure, the water around you is crystal clear and the ambiance is completely peaceful.

Can you describe the experience of entering the Mangroves from the lagoon?

Once you get on the water as you leave the resort, the first thing you see are groups of small fish swimming and playing around the boar. On a calm and sunny day, which is most of the time in Mauritius, you’ll feel a gentle breeze on your face, and feel a few refreshing droplets of sea water. After paddling for a short while, you will reach the Mangroves jungle. You will see many different types of fish, as well as crabs, spider webs linking the Mangroves together, and mussels on the rocks. If you are very lucky, you will see some kingfisher looking for fresh fish or crabs. Everything around is completely green and untouched. It’s just you and nature.

Why are the mangroves important to you?

The Mangroves play a great role in the marine reproduction process of the lagoon. Paddling in the Mangroves gives me inner peace. It makes me think more clearly, and re-energises me. I am so excited to share this incredible experience with our guests, and pass on this feeling of tranquility and a oneness with nature.
