South Africa, Cape Town; One&Only Cape Town has introduced “handy” smartphone devices to all guest rooms and suites. These devices look and function like mainstream smartphones, however are programmed by the resort. They are functional anywhere in Cape Town and are complimentary to all guests during their stay.
All handy devices allow:
As well as allowing guests to communicate freely at all times, it also allows the resort to contact the guest. Personal messages are sent to guests throughout their stay, giving them general updates as well as personalized offerings and tips – in accordance with their preferences. In this way, for example, a wine fanatic will be told of wine tastings, a mother about a kids movie screening, and a couple about availability for a couples massage in the spa.
In this way, guests are provided seamless connectivity through an operating system and device that feels familiar.
This platform also has massive benefits for the resort itself. “It will provide us with rich analytics, a new communication channel and of course greater guest satisfaction,” Richard Lyon, General Manager, explains, “it allows us to easily communicate with our guests and build relationships with them, which is now becoming an expectation in a 5-star luxury environment.”
In addition, the resort has loaded the mobile application ALICE onto these devices, allowing guests further functionality such as ordering in-room dining, making restaurant reservations and requesting extra towels be delivered at a specific time.
The resort will continue focusing on raising the bar by embracing new technology that will enhance guest experience, ensuring that every moment at One&Only Cape Town is memorable.
