With a dining room for ten and a large, cosy salon, it is the perfect retreat for an intimate evening with friends and family. Blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, the lounge, dining and bedroom spaces open on to comfortably furnished terraces with mesmerising ocean views perfect for sunrise breakfasts, sunset cocktails and dinner under the stars. The night can end with stories around the fire, under a blanket of stars.
Spacious bedrooms and luxurious private dressing rooms featuring pale tones and natural materials echoing the landscape are complemented by en-suite wall-to-floor marble bathrooms flowing into secluded outdoor shower terraces with direct beach access. The ocean-facing master bedroom measures a generous 80 square metres and is decorated with ceramic tiles, silk, ocean colours, and embroidered panels representing Mauritian lilies. The second bedroom on the far side of the villa offers two queen beds, perfect for children or friends, features a collection of handmade ceramic plates created by local artist, Helene de Senneville, that hang on the wall above the beds. Inspired by endemic flowers, they bring a touch of fun and colour to the room. The decor immerses Villa One guests into a world of luxurious residential living with a unique local ambiance.
Featuring a soft, neutral palette of cool sandstone floors, cream walls and sun-drenched wood adorned with mother of pearl and silk accents, the simplicity of the island-inspired interior is enhanced by a collection of locally made artwork, connecting guests with the heritage of the setting and essence of the island. Mauritian artist Sarah Thompson designed two abstract ceramic pieces of art for Villa One, inspired by the underwater treasures of the Indian Ocean, for both the Master Bedroom and the Dining Room. Celebrating the local sea life, she utilised a sea urchin application on white with touches of glaze and metal. Helene de Senneville, turned to the lush tropical gardens for inspiration, her bespoke paintings and ceramic plates invoking the indigenous colourful flora and fauna. In the Master Bedroom, a contemporary figurative acrylic and gold silver leaf painting will be on display. She has also sourced old sketches and water coloured paintings representing Mauritian flora and fauna, an iconic lizard and the Mauritius of yesterday. In honour of One&Only Le Saint Géran’s distinguished heritage, the living room of Villa One will also house a selection of paintings that have been collected to reflect the resort’s 42-year history.
Detailed throughout with hand carved timbers, highly lacquered veneers, and woven embroidered silk screens, tailor-made within the Mauritian island setting, Villa One is imbued with the sophisticated ease of a well curated home.
