Diving & snorkelling
Experience the best diving spots in the Maldives
Explore the Maldives’ underwater world
Surrounded by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean, with direct access to the Maldives’ most active reefs, One&Only Reethi Rah can curate for you unforgettable snorkelling and diving experiences from our vibrant North Malé Atoll.
Oceans of life
In the pristine waters of North Malé Atoll, wild turtles, reef sharks, whale sharks, sting rays, manta rays, anemones, sea-stars, and an endless array of vivid fish all flock to their natural homes in the expansive coral reefs. Under the guidance of our on-resort marine biologist, experience one-of-a-kind aquatic animal encounters.
Curated just for you
Set sail on a private tour on your choice of modern speedboat or take a local dhoni cruise, and you’ll be equipped with everything you need for your snorkelling or scuba-diving excursion. Our expert instructors will share their intimate knowledge of the local geography and habitats, and the marine life who call these waters home.
Meet the manta rays
Plunge into one of the world’s manta ray hotspots, for a unique snorkelling encounter. Your private boat will be guided into the Hanifaru Bay Marine Protected Area in Baa Atoll, where flights of rays swoop and soar beneath the water’s surface. Our Manta season runs from end of December to April where you can experience close encounters and access the best snorkeling spots in the Maldives with three dive sites, all less than 20 minutes from the resort. With a wingspan of up to three-and-a-half-metres, these gentle giants are a safe swimming companion as they circle in groups of up to 200 rays ‘flying’ in formation.
Your aquatic adventure
Swimming with sharks
Meet the reef sharks that glide around Reethi Rah's six-kilometres of pristine coastline, feeding on schools of tiny fish within the warm water of the atoll. With up to 40 metres of visibility in the clear Indian Ocean mid-shallows, you'll be able to observe sharks in vivid detail. Your exciting shark safari continues with the rare opportunity to jump in and dive with whale sharks in the warm waters of the South Ari Atoll. Classified as the worlds largest fish and reaching up to 10-metres long, don't be fooled by their size and fierce appearance, as these harmless creatures prefer to gorge on minuscule plankton.
A turtle odyssey
Our private island resort invites guests to snorkel or dive with sea turtles for a truly memorable encounter. Five of the planet's seven sea turtles can be found in the Maldives, but it's the endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle you are most likely to see when you embark on an underwater adventure. Spotted with patterns of black, brown, yellow, and amber, their marbled shells act as camouflage as they glide over coral, searching for sea sponges and anemones to snack on. Gentle by nature, you'll be able to swim side-by-side with sea turtles in their natural home.
